I did not come to you with eloquent speech

Ĩ None of the rulers of this age or world perceived and recognized and understood this, for if they had, they would never have crucified the Lord of glory.ĩ But, on the contrary, as the Scripture says, What eye has not seen and ear has not heard and has not entered into the heart of man, God has prepared (made and keeps ready) for those who love Him. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.ġ1 For who knows a person's thoughts except that person's own spirit within? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.ġ2 We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us.ġ3 This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.ġ4 The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.ġ5 The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgmentsġ AS FOR myself, brethren, when I came to you, I did not come proclaiming to you the testimony and evidence or mystery and secret of God in lofty words of eloquence or human philosophy and wisdomĢ For I resolved to know nothing (to be acquainted with nothing, to make a display of the knowledge of nothing, and to be conscious of nothing) among you except Jesus Christ (the Messiah) and Him crucified.ģ And I was in (passed into a state of) weakness and fear (dread) and great trembling among you.Ĥ And my language and my message were not set forth in persuasive (enticing and plausible) words of wisdom, but they were in demonstration of the Spirit and power ĥ So that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men (human philosophy), but in the power of God.Ħ Yet when we are among the full-grown (spiritually mature Christians who are ripe in understanding), we do impart a wisdom (the knowledge of the divine plan previously hidden) but it is indeed not a wisdom of this present age or of this world nor of the leaders and rulers of this age, who are being brought to nothing and are doomed to pass away.ħ But rather what we are setting forth is a wisdom of God once hidden and now revealed to us by God- which God devised and decreed before the ages for our glorification. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God.Ģ For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.ģ I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling.Ĥ My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's powerĥ So that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God's power.Ħ We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.ħ No, we declare God's wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began.Ĩ None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.ĩ However, as it is written: "What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived – these things God has prepared for those who love him" –ġ0 For God has revealed them to us by his Spirit.
